Bushcare is hands-on conservation to protect and enhance habitat and biodiversity in bushland, parks, wetlands and waterways.

North Brisbane Catchments Bushcare Sites

North Brisbane Catchments bushcare groups are run by dedicated volunteers who are committed to keeping Brisbane clean, green and sustainable. Groups work in partnership with Brisbane City Council and receive advice and support from Council officers.

Virginia Bushcare Group – Almost Cuppa Time!

Bushcare groups undertake a variety of activities including:

  • Weed removal
  • Revegetating and regeneration with locally native plants
  • Mulching
  • Citizen science projects
  • Conducting flora and fauna surveys
  • Engaging all members of the community through working bees and other events to build community partnerships and friendships
  • Hosting community planting days

Working bees are generally held on the last Sunday afternoon of the month commencing at 3:30pm in summer and 3:00pm in winter.
Widening and enhancing the riparian zone along the creeks through revegetation and regeneration with endemic local species.

NBC Wendon Way Bushcare
Bridgeman Downs.

Covers the area linking Clarrie Beckingham Reserve to Dawn Road Reserve at which point Albany Creek homes a diverse range of fauna including the platypus. Engages in regeneration of native plants and stabilisation of the riparian area. From the group leader: “We’ll aim for our monthly working bees to be the second Sunday morning of the month. Start time will vary depending on season – Summer from 7.30. Our first for 2026 will be February 8th.  Some months will vary from this date due to clashes with Public Holidays, weather, volunteer holidays, etc”
